Svårstartad Svartqvarna

Fråga: My Svartqvarna 118 mod 24 is hard to start. I’ve got a good spark on the plug and I’ve cleaned the carburetor several times. I have good compression in the combustion chamber. I am now wondering if there is a problem with the crankcase pressure.

If the crankcase pressure is not correct this will prevent the fuel being transferred to the combustion cylinder. What’s the best way to approach this problem.? Is it possible to check crankcase pressure? Are there any inlet/exhaust valves?.

Any other idea? HELP

Svar: Try this: Do several attempts to start and then check the sparkplug. If the plug is wet, the spark is too weak – and if the plug is dry, theres no fuel. Under compression, it is harder for spark to jump between the plugs electrodes – so a ”good spark” in free air can be very weak inside the engine.

It is possible to measure the crankcase pressure, but I have no readings for this. Check the sealings at each end of the crankshaft. And the gasket under the cylinder. There are no valves in the enginge – the piston controls the opening and closing of all ports in the cylinder,
