Changing crankshaft seals on a Svartqvarna

Fråga: Hi! I am thinking of renewing the seals on the crankshaft on my Svartqvarna mod 24. The main bearings are ok and the big end and small end and piston seem ok. Not too noisy anyway.

Do I need to split the crankcase or can it be done without removing the engine from the frame? What part numbers are needed?

Thanks

Svar: I haven’t tried to change the crankshaft seals on a Husqvarna engine like this but if you remove the flywheel and ignition on one side and the transmission on the other side, than it should be done.

You have to drill two or more holes in the sealnings and than pull the sealing out with the use of sheet metal screw and and pair of plyers. Be careful not to drill too deep as you can damage the main bearings – and be sure of that all metal flakes from the drilling are cleared from the bearings. Use comressed air from the inside of the crank case.

I only have the dimensions regarding the Mod 27-engine and the dimension is: 17 x 35 x 10 mm and 20 x 35 x 10 mm.
