Fråga: Hi. I have bought an old Husqvarna svartqvarna. It has had plungers fitted to the back wheel and OPIO FRONT TELESCOPIC forks. I am wondering where I can buy replacement forks. Or spares to repair. Any suggestions welcome. Enclosed two photos of my motorcycle. When I bought it I was told that the frame and engine are Svartqvarna. The engine number is 24-18974. Frame number 4665. I was told that the frame was modified and plungers were fitted. I think that the front forks OPIO were fitted at the same time maybe?
Other parts are probably from a Blåqvarna… It’s a bit of a mongrel I think. Bits and pieces maybe. I would appreciate your opinions and advice. Apologies that my Swedish is very basic and not able to explain. Thanks for help. Also I am wondering how interchangeable are the components for the röd, blå and svartqvarna. For instance I have fitted a röd bensin tank with a röd gear lever and connecting rod. And it works!
The lower bracket on the fork is cracked. I don’t think it can be welded. It looks like cast metal.
Many thanks

Svar: It looks like it´s built of several models of Husqvarna motorcycles. The post war black Husqvarna was named by the factory ”Model 24” which indicates that the engine is from a Svartqvarna (prefix ”24” in the engine number). I can’t tell if the frame is a Svartqvarna from the frame number – maybe some of our readers can?
Your motorcycle is definitely a mongrel (hopplock på svenska) from other Husqvarna models and aftermarket parts like the front fork ”Opio” which was made in Skåne, Sweden by the company ”Osby Pumpindustri”. There were aftermarket plunger kits made as well by some companys. The original frontfork on mod 24 were of a ”webb-type” and the rear wheel had no suspension. Many of the parts in model 24 – 30 are interchangeable and sometimes the only difference is the paint.
I don’t think it’s easy to find spare parts for the fork and plungers as they were very rare at the time. You can advertise for free in the paper version of Classic Motor. In 1970 Osby Pumpindustri went bankrupt. You can read a little bit of their history here. Some cast iron can be welded but I don’t know if the bracket (fasten) on your fork is made of that kind of cast iron. Maybe it can be soldred with a brass solder.
